John Powis had his first outing in the Radical SR3 at Brands Hatch on Saturday 1 April.

It seems the weather was determined to join in the spirit of the day, by soaking the track before scrutineering and then drying out rapidly immediately afterwards, so that John and his crew only just had time to change from a wet to a dry set up in time for their qualifying runs. Despite the panic, he put the car on 4th on the grid.

An uncertain start, born of inexperience with a bike-engined car, dropped him to 7th, but John was soon able to clawed back those lost places to finish 4th overall and first in class.
