The Club is sorry to report the sad news that Ian Walker passed away on the 7th July 2008. He was a past President of the NLECC and an active and generous Honorary Member of the London Car Club. He was a Life Member of the BRDC, having celebrated 50 years as a member in 2007. Ian was also Chairman and Founder of FAI Automotive PLC. Ian had suffered some fairly major health scares over the last few years but always seemed to bounce back larger than life and was able join us for the Concours at Radwinter in 2007 with his rally prepared Healey 100. Ian was a semi-professional racing and rally driver in the 1950's and 1960's following which he formed Ian Walker Racing. The team campaigned successfully in Europe and North America entering cars for legends such as Jim Clark, Graham Hill and Jackie Stewart. He continued to enter cars right to the end with his son Sean Walker competing in historic F2 and sports cars. |
