The LCC was sad to learn of the death of Reg Kimble, following heart surgery, on 26 April, the day before the Jacobean Trial, an event he will always be associated with. Though Reg was not an LCC member, as an integral part of Rent-A-Hill he was a vital ingredient to the club being able to carry on running the Jacobean and Gloucester sporting trials. At a time when the manpower resources of the LCC were not up to the actual physical running of the trials, Reg made an agreement with Dacre Harvey that if the LCC provided the administrative services, then Rent-A-Hill would provide the manpower on the day. So Rent-A-Hill laid out the course on the Saturday and covered most of the other support services. Among other things, Reg supplied both the toilets and the catering, though happily not from the same vehicle. However, he did apparently tow both togther, which was a sight to behold! About five years ago, Reg lost a leg in a holiday incident; yet this did not stop his continuing passion for the sport as he would still passnger Brian Wall in as many trials as possible. He will be sadly missed. |
